TESTING
The previous blog was written with a white background because I was doing a test for our eventual trip to China. Now I see that it works. Thanks Janet and David!
FRIDAY
We call it "Fun Friday" because our family cannot wait until we can relax from the Monday to Friday routine. Fridays are especially nice for me because there are usually no big homework assignments for the girls that have to be completed the very next day. This past week, Kau`i had a project which involved making a solar oven. That was so cool. Next is the 5th Grade Economics Fair on May 13. For her project, Kau`i decided to make jewelry. Wow!
Maile has a book report due Monday on Microbes. We've learned a lot about germs!
On another note, Kau`i called Kailani this evening. It was Saturday and Kai just got through eating lunch and was playing cards. She said she was bored and cannot wait to see Kau`i. She asked what Kau`i's sisters were doing. Kailani said she was in the 5th grade and was happy she will be in the same grade as Kau`i. They talked a little longer and was disconnected.

DOSSIER TO CHINA
This picture was taken December 2009. In several months Kau`i and Kailani (on the right) will be reunited as sisters.

GOOD FRIDAY
Yes, we are still here... School and church events, where has all the time gone?
Our church, Hope Chapel Kihei, had a Children's Ministry Appreciation Dinner for all the adult volunteers who help teach the children the word of God. Our church is BIG on children. Earlier in the week, Toni, the director, asked if Dale, Kau`i and I would go up on stage and talk a little bit about Kau`i and how she accepted Jesus as her Savior. She asked Kau`i if she would say a few words too. Kau`i had her speech all prepared and practiced it with us before hand. She said "Every night before bed my dad would read a little of the Bible to us and pray before we went to bed. We also thank God before we eat. I go to Awanas and saw how nice the people are and very excited to be baptized" and so forth.
Okay, so after Dale and I said a little bit we handed the microphone to Kau`i. Our beautiful girl just stood there smiling and not saying anything. She froze! We did caused a little stir with our story and some people even cried.

IT'S ALL ABOUT TEETH

Our middle Princess Maile's dream finally came true. She lost her upper tooth. Now she doesn't know if she likes the way it looks! I've never seen anyone look in the mirror so many times a day with different face poses.
And then there is Kau`i. The day she has waited for is here. Braces with pink bands. Going home from the orthodontist, Kau`i said when she goes back to China her friends will look at her weird because they do not wear this funny looking instrument. She has a lot of explaining to do.

GIRLS HAVING FUN
After church this morning we went to our favorite breakfast place. Girls had a treat. Our waitress Rachel brought over a 3 lb. live lobster. Our little ones had an education with Rachel pointing to almost every part of this female lobster. Makena's first question was "Are you going to cook this lobster? Please don't!"
The best thing about this movie was wearing the 3-D glasses.
Ryland's favorite Auntie Kau`i!
